Abstract:

This coverage includes points that describe selected major cities of the Far East (China, Japan, Mongolia, North and South Korea, and Taiwan; and portions of Cambodia, Laos, Thailand and Vietnam).

Purpose:

To depict selected major cities as a locational reference to Open File Report 97-470F Maps Showing Geology, Geologic Provinces, and Oil and Gas Fields of the Asia Pacific Region; Plate 1: The Far East, which is being compiled as a reference for the U.S. Geological Survey's World Energy Project assessment of undiscovered, technically recoverable oil and gas resources of the world. This coverage is used to produce a map and an Adobe Acrobat Portable Document of the map to be published on CD-ROM. An Arcview shapefile derived from this coverage is used in an Arcview project.
